1. What is the National Youth Registration Portal (NYREG)?

The National Youth Registration Portal (NYREG) is an online platform managed by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development for the registration and accreditation of youth-focused NGOs in Nigeria.

2. Who can register on NYREG?

Youth-focused NGOs and organizations whose primary mission is youth development in Nigeria can register, provided they meet the portal criteria.

3. Is there a fee for registration on NYREG?

No. Registration on NYREG is free for all qualifying youth-focused organizations.

4. What is required to register an organization on NYREG?

Your organization must be non-profit and non-partisan, registered with CAC, have a valid constitution and operational office, and have youth development as its main objective.

5. How do I register my organization?

Create an account on the NYREG portal through the Apply/Register section, then submit your organization details and required documents online.

6. What happens after registration?

The Ministry conducts due diligence. If successful, your organization receives a letter of registration and is listed in the National Youth Organizations Database.

7. Does NYREG also provide accreditation?

Yes. Registered organizations can apply for accreditation as implementing partners of the National Youth Policy, subject to specific criteria.

8. What are the benefits of registration and accreditation?

Benefits include inclusion in the official national database, opportunities for collaboration and support, and formal recognition for youth development activities.

9. Can organizations update their information after registering?

Yes. Organizations can log into their NYREG account and update their records through the portal process.

10. Is NYREG only for individuals?

No. NYREG is primarily designed for youth-focused NGOs and organizations, not for individual youth registrations.

11. Which government body oversees NYREG?

NYREG operates under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.

12. Must my organization be registered with CAC before applying?

Yes. Your organization must be duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and have valid registration documents before applying.

13. Can a newly established NGO apply?

Yes, if it is legally registered with CAC, has a functional structure, and has youth development as its core objective. Approval is still subject to Ministry due diligence.

14. What is the difference between Registration and Accreditation?

Registration lists your organization in the national youth database, while accreditation allows your organization to serve as a recognized implementing partner under the National Youth Policy.

15. How long does the approval process take?

Approval time varies based on the completeness of documents, verification requirements, and the number of applications received. Monitor your dashboard and email for updates.

16. What happens if my application is rejected?

You may receive feedback on the reason for rejection and be allowed to correct deficiencies and reapply with complete and accurate documentation.

17. Can state-based youth organizations register?

Yes. Community, local government, state, and national-level youth organizations can apply, as long as they meet the requirements.

18. Does NYREG provide funding directly?

No. NYREG is a registration and accreditation platform. Funding opportunities may come through government programs or partnerships, but registration does not guarantee funding.

19. Is political affiliation allowed?

No. Organizations must be non-partisan and not affiliated with political parties to qualify for registration.

20. Can international NGOs register on NYREG?

Yes, if they have legal authorization to operate in Nigeria and focus primarily on youth development within Nigeria, subject to Ministry review.

21. How can I check my application status?

Log into your NYREG dashboard, check your registered email for notifications, or contact support when necessary.

22. Where is the NYREG office located?

The NYREG office is located at New Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase II, Shehu Shagari Way, Abuja.

23. Can an organization lose its registration or accreditation?

Yes. Registration or accreditation may be revoked for false information, violation of government regulations, inactivity, or deviation from youth-focused objectives.

24. Is renewal required after registration?

In some cases, organizations may need to update records periodically, renew accreditation after a specified period, and submit compliance reports.
